Arnold Clavio Shares Nurse’s Observation on FPRRD Photo
Arnold “Igan” Clavio, a GMA news anchor, shared a photo of former President Rodrigo Duterte lying down and being given a tube to provide additional oxygen. The photo was taken at Villamor Air Base in Pasay City on Tuesday, March 11, where Duterte was taken after his arrest for the “crimes against humanity” case filed against him by the International Criminal Court (ICC).

In Igan’s Instagram post on Wednesday, March 12, he highlighted what a person named “Nurse Benj” noticed in a viral Facebook post containing a photo of the former president. According to Nurse Benj, there was an unpleasant detail she noticed regarding the oxygen therapy administered to Duterte. She stated that the tube attached to the former president’s oxygen tank was not properly connected to the oxygen tank.

Igan shared Nurse Benj’s comment: “EHEM: A Nurse Benj posted because she noticed that former President Duterte’s oxygen tank was NOT CONNECTED to his TUBING.” According to Clavio, this is a serious issue that should be given attention especially since it has to do with patient safety.

Clavio added, “PLEASE BE REMINDED: Always check contraptions for patient safety!” He also announced that oxygen tubing is an important piece of medical equipment and it is necessary to ensure that it is properly connected to the oxygen outlet port of the humidifier. If it is not properly connected, it may cause improper oxygen delivery to the patient, which may result in ineffective respiratory support and waste resources.

He also warned, “Make sure the Oxygen TUBING is always connected to OXYGEN OUTLET PORT of oxygen humidifier to deliver effective O2 support and maximize resources.” Igan mentioned that improperly connecting oxygen tubing to the oxygen tank is a “safety issue.” This is a major violation of medical protocols, and all healthcare providers are strongly advised to ensure that all equipment is properly connected to avoid possible complications in the patient’s health.

Igan stated that this issue is not just about one person or one incident. According to Clavio, it is important that all equipment, especially in critical situations such as having oxygen support, is ensured to be safely and properly connected to prevent any kind of accident. He mentioned that in this type of incident, the patient’s safety is of utmost importance, and one must ensure that the equipment is functioning properly.
