ABS-CBN’s popular noontime show, ‘It’s Showtime’, has narrowed the ratings gap with its rival Kapuso program ‘Eat Bulaga!’

According to the preliminary overnight ratings data from the Nielsen NUTAM People survey, It’s Showtime made significant progress in closing the lead that Eat Bulaga! had enjoyed since its original hosts, Tito, Vic, and Joey, and the other Dabarkads departed. With the introduction of new hosts Paolo Contis, Buboy Villar, and Betong Sumaya, It’s Showtime has managed to reduce its gap in ratings.

On Monday, June 5, It’s Showtime achieved a rating of 3.2 percent, compared to the revamped Eat Bulaga!’s 5.2 percent, resulting in a mere 2 percent gap.

This marks the closest margin It’s Showtime has achieved since the transition from the original Eat Bulaga! hosts. Before the change, the long-running noontime show typically scored an average of 7.0 to 7.5 percent, while It’s Showtime averaged around 2.5 to 2.8 percent.

In addition to declining ratings, the revamped Eat Bulaga! has faced strong criticism from Twitter users, particularly targeting one of its new hosts, Paolo Contis.

Many netizens expressed their dissatisfaction with the Kapuso actor’s inclusion in the show, citing concerns over his alleged failure to provide financial support to his children.

Considering the negative reception from netizens towards the new Eat Bulaga!, it is expected that the competition between the Kapuso noontime show and It’s Showtime will become even closer in the upcoming days.
