Aegis Band Vocalist Mercy Sunot Passes Away, Relatives Confirmed

MERCY SUNOT – One of the lead vocalist of the popular Filipino rock band ‘Aegis’ has passed away after battling cancer.

The Philippine music scene is heartbroken over the loss of Mercy Sunot, the talented lead vocalist of the iconic OPM band Aegis. Mercy was known for her powerful voice that made hits like Halik, Luha, and Basang-Basa sa Ulan unforgettable.

Recently, Mercy had been sharing her health struggles with her fans online. She was fighting both lung and breast cancer and had just undergone surgery for her lungs. Unfortunately, after the surgery, she experienced severe breathing problems and was rushed to the ICU.

Doctors found fluid in her lungs and inflammation, which they were trying to treat. Despite staying positive and strong, Mercy’s condition worsened.

Angel Pe Awayan confirmed the death of the famous singer on her Facebook post:

“I’m so broken to hear about your passing. My dearest sister Mercy Sunot, i will forever miss your beautiful soul. Beyond shocked and speechless but No more pain

May you rest in peace my lovie. Until we meet again. I love you

A few days before she passed, Mercy asked her fans for prayers, hoping for a recovery. She remained hopeful throughout her battle, but sadly, she passed away, leaving behind her family, bandmates, and countless fans who adored her.

Sunot’s untimely death is a huge loss to OPM, but her music and voice will live on. Along with her siblings, Juliet and Ken, Mercy helped define a generation of music lovers, creating songs that will always be part of Filipino culture.
