At a recent event that Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes attended together as brand ambassadors, the press was quick to get their opinion on the recent and subsequent celebrity couple breakups.

The happily married showbiz couple, considered a fairy tale come true by Filipino fans, have been followed since officially becoming a couple in 2009, their engagement in August 2014, and their grand wedding in December 2014, famously dubbed the ‘Royal Wedding.’ Today, they are proud parents of two beautiful children: 8-year-old Zia and 4-year-old Sixto. Given their inspirational love story, their thoughts on the recent string of celebrity couple breakups were eagerly sought.

“Actually, parang ayokong mag-comment diyan. Parang wala ako sa posisyon para magsalita o magkomento para sa mga ganyang klase,” Marian told Pep. “Pero siyempre, every time na nakakarinig tayo ng ganitong pagkakataon sa mag-couple ay nakakalungkot naman talaga.”

(Actually, I kind of don’t want to comment on that. It’s like I’m not in a position to speak or comment on those kinds of things. But of course, every time we hear about situations like this for a couple, it’s really saddening.)

“So, ang tanging magagawa nating mga nakapaligid at kung kaibigan naman natin sila, ipagdasal natin sila na maging maayos at makayanan nila ang mga pagsubok na ito,” she continued.

(So, the only thing we can do as those around them, and if they’re our friends, is to pray for them to overcome and handle these challenges.)

In addition to this, Dingdong said, “Kasi alam niyo po, yung mga nakikita naman sa media especially sa amin, probably yun ang one percent of kung ano talaga yung nangyayari sa aming buhay kasi hindi naman po talaga lahat nashe-share namin.”

(Because you know, what you see in the media, especially with us, that’s probably just one percent of what really happens in our lives. Because we don’t really share everything.)

“Having said that, hindi naman kami perpektong couple pero isa lang ang bagay ang sinisiguro namin– that we always try hard to become better persons each day, not just for ourselves but also for each other and for our family,” he concluded.
