Gladys Reyes reflects on 31 years of togetherness with Christopher Roxas

Gladys Reyes and her husband, Christopher Roxas, have been a couple for 31 years, from the moment they started dating up to they got married.

In an interview with Bianca Gonzalez on the TFC show BRGY, Gladys attributed the success of their relationship not only to themselves but also to the people who have been supporting them,

“Parang we won’t be able to reach that year or all those years without the help of all these trusted people around us, most especially ‘yung parents talaga ang laking factor,” she remarked.

“Lalo na sa akin because ‘yung mama and papa ko always there to guide me, to guide us kami ni Christopher because parang childhood sweethearts kami, tapos eventually it blossomed into a serious relationship,” she added.

Gladys relayed that she was 15 when she knew that Christopher was the one. The actor was Gladys’s first and only boyfriend.

“Childhood sweethearts pa lang kami sa Mara Clara I already knew that I wanted to be with this person for the rest of my life. I don’t know how could that be possible di ba? At 15 na parang alam ko na na ito ‘yung  gusto ko makasama habang buhay and I prayed for it,” she recalled.

The And the Breadwinner Is… actress recounted: “Hindi ko rin naman talaga ini-expect na matutupad ‘yung prayer ko kasi iniisip ko nga mas bata, di ba mas challenging ‘yun kasi nga mas bata siya sa akin pero I guess it just shows na nothing is impossible with prayers di ba?”

The actress highlighted that faith is also one of the things that bind them as a couple.

“Isa pa sa pinagpe-pray ko was because that time hindi kami the same ng religion so ‘yung faith din and one day alam mo ‘yun biglang siya na lang voluntarily nag-ask sa akin, ‘Can I attend your doctrines, to listen to your doctrines?’ So sabi ko I guess this is answered prayer kasi di ko siya pinilit. Kaya siguro yan ‘yung pinakamatibay na nagba-bind sa amin,” she stated.
