Sa Pebrero 1 at 2, 2025 ay nakatakdang ganapin ang pre-Valentine concert, na may titulong Halik sa Ulan, ng Pinoy rock band na Aegis.
Pero hindi na kumpleto ang grupo dahil sa pagpanaw ng isa sa mga lead vocalist na si Mercy Sunot.
Siya ay 48.
Kinumpirma ng Aegis, sa pamamagitan ng kanilang official Facebook page, ang malungkot na balita.
Nakasaad dito: “It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Mercy, one of the beloved vocalists of AEGIS Band. She bravely fought her battle with cancer but has now found peace and rest.
“Mercy’s voice wasn’t just a part of AEGIS—it was a voice that brought comfort, joy, and strength to so many. She has touched countless lives, inspiring fans and lifting spirits with every song she sang. Her passion, warmth, and unforgettable presence on stage will forever be cherished in our hearts.
“Let us come together to celebrate the incredible life she lived and the legacy she leaves behind.
“Mercy, thank you for the music, the love, and the memories. You will be deeply missed.”
Nagpahiwatig din ng pagdadalamhati ang kanyang kapatid at kapwa Aegis member na si Juliet Sunot sa Facebook post nito.
Nakasaad dito: “The hardest thing I’ve ever done, I wear a mask from day to day and try to cope in my own way.
“I’ll miss you ‘til we meet again and long for you each day ‘til then.
“There’s now a hole no one can fill within my heart.”
Ilang malalapit ding kaibigan ng Aegis ang nag-post sa Facebook tungkol sa pagpanaw ni Mercy.
Mensahe ni Armida Domalante: “Our hearts go out to the Sunot family and the Aegis Band as we celebrate the remarkable life of Mercy Sunot, an extraordinary vocalist. Her passing is deeply felt and leaves us in awe.”
Ayon naman kay Frankie Ballesteros: “Rest and peace [praying emojis] ate Mercy Sunot. Nakakagulat ka Naman Ang lakas lakas mo na sa mga post mo. condolences sa inyo ate Juliet and ken family sunot…”
Maging ang Love Radio Manila ay nag-post din ng kanilang pagbibigay-pugay kay Mercy.
Sabi nila: “Paalam at maraming salamat sa pagbabahagi ng musika at talento sa bawat Pilipino. Rest in peace, Mercy Sunot ng Aegis!”

MERCY ASKED FOR PRAYERS
Noong Nobyembre 16, sa pamamagitan ng isang social media video post na may hashtags na “BreastCancerWarrior at #LungCancerWarrior, humiling pa si Mercy ng dasal para sa kanyang paggaling matapos sumailalim sa lung surgery sa isang ospital sa Amerika.
Lahad niya, “Tapos na yung surgery ko sa lungs, pero biglang nahirapan akong huminga, so dinala ako sa ICU.
“Tapos ngayon may tubig pala, may inflammation yung lungs ko, so ginagawan na nila ng paraan.”
Dasal ang hiling ni Mercy para matapos na ang mga pagsubok sa kalusugan na kanyang pinagdaraanan.
MERCY’S LAST BIRTHDAY
Noong Nobyembre 6, nagdiwang si Mercy ng kanyang huling kaarawan.
Sa pamamagitan pa rin ng isang video post, ikinuwento niya ang lungkot na nararamdaman dahil nag-iisa lamang siya sa Amerika para magpagamot.
Malungkot na saad niMercy: “It’s my birthday today kaya maaga akong nagsimba. Nagpa-alarm ako ng 6:30 A.M. para magising, maligo, para i-celebrate kong mag-isa ang birthday ko.
“Mahirap, mahirap sa ibang bansa na nag-iisa ka lang. Yung wala kang malapitan, malungkot.
“Iba talaga kapag nasa ibang bansa ka. Solo flight ako.
“Yung gusto kong gawin, hindi ko magawa. Yung mag-celebrate na kasama ang pamilya mo, hindi ko magawa.
“Iba pa rin sa Pilipinas, napagtanto ko na mas masaya sa Pilipinas kesa dito, pero no choice ako dahil kailangan kong mag-stay nang matagal dahil nagpapagamot ako dito.
“Sana, sana gumaling ako ng mas mabilis para makauwi ako ng Pilipinas.”
