MANILA — Kim Chiu is no stranger to hectic preparations for the ABS-CBN Ball, having attended the last 12 iterations of the annual gathering of Kapamilya stars.
But this year, Chiu was admittedly ill-prepared, as she had been busy with overseas shows and a personal vacation in the months leading up to the 2019 ABS-CBN Ball.
In her latest vlog released on Tuesday, the actress-host, together with her fashion stylist Adrianne Concepcion, shared that they only had three weeks to put together a look for the event.

Having Pampanga-based designer Benj Leguiab create Chiu’s gown was a match that was “meant to be,” they said, recalling that setting the meeting, the actual meeting, the brainstorming, and the approval of the design happened within one day.
A frequent inclusion in best-dressed lists of the annual ball, Chiu told her viewers that she feels pressured over her red-carpet look, “kasi parang hindi ka puwede magkamali sa susuotin mo.”

But any apprehension appeared to dissipate when Chiu, in her vlog, was shown the finished gown for the first time.
“Grabe! Parang wala akong masabi! Ito talaga ‘yung na-imagine namin. Oh em! Parang gusto ko nang maging si Mama Mary!” she said.

Chiu was indeed a vision of elegance when she walked the red carpet with onscreen and real-life partner Xian Lim, who at one point carried her down a flight of stairs when had difficulty walking.
