Arne Slot has got the best out of him so far this season.

Ryan Gravenberch has seemingly aimed a subtle dig at Jurgen Klopp following his revival under new Liverpool boss Arne Slot.

Gravenberch was snapped up by Klopp in the summer of 2023 as he played 26 league games in his debut campaign at Liverpool following his transfer from Bayern Munich.

But, under Slot, he’s played every league game so far and has excelled in the No.6 position, picking up the Man of the Match award in his side’s 2-1 victory at Wolves.

Speaking about his performances in the middle of the park, he appeared to aim a thinly-veiled dig at Klopp, revealing he’s enjoying his football under Slot’s tutelage over the German.

“That’s all exaggerated. I’m the same Gravenberch,” he explained. “I sometimes had matches [last season] where I only touched the ball after five minutes.

“Then I don’t get into my game, I don’t get into my rhythm. This feels more comfortable to me.”

Gravenberch has performed wonders under Slot, who tried to sign Martín Zubimendi from Real Sociedad during the summer transfer window.

But Liverpool were unable to sign Zubimendi, with the Dutch midfielder taking advantage of the failed transfer.

His stellar performances haven’t gone unnoticed among fans and critics alike, with Alan Shearer praising the 22-year-old.

Speaking on The Rest is Football podcast, the Newcastle United legend said: “I know they wanted a midfielder [this summer] but I think [the midfield has] probably been one of their strengths in the first few games.

“In terms of Gravenberch, I think he’s been outstanding hasn’t he.”

Gravenberch, who joined the Reds for £34 million, has started every league game this season as well as his team’s Champions League tie against AC Milan.

He’s expected to keep his place in the starting XI when Liverpool resume their Champions League venture against Bologna on Wednesday.
