Megastar Sharon Cuneta shared that this is how she wants to be remembered in the Philippine entertainment industry.

Sharon is indeed one of the icons in showbiz. Her works on small and big screen are instilled in the hearts of her fans throughout the years. Aside from her acting stints, she is well-loved for the songs she popularized.

One factor that added to her icon status was the Pinoys’ association with her song Bituing Walang Ningning to take food out during gatherings.

The song has the lyrics “Balutin mo” which has earned a new term “Mag-Sharon.” The Megastar is well aware that people would mention her during “handaan” and she was happy being part of pop culture.

Sharon Cuneta also knows that as a joke, some people would put her photos with a “cancel symbol”, meaning the guests were not allowed to take out food. In a recent interview, based on the article in The Philippine Star, Sharon shared her thoughts on this.

“‘Pag mayroong mga gatherings at ‘yung picture ko, may X, walang Sharon, parang naging part na ng, sa tingin ko, pop culture. So natutuwa ako kasi kahit papaano, ‘yung younger generation, nakikilala nila ako, nagtatanong sila,” the actress-singer said.

She said that upon seeing her photo, the younger generation would be curious about the meaning and the context behind it. For her, this was a way of reintroducing her song.

“I laugh a lot when there’s something like that na they tag me in. I find it so sweet, funny,” Sharon added. However, behind her status in the entertainment industry and all her achievements as an actress and singer, she pointed out that she wants people to remember her differently.

Sharon hoped that people would recall and look back to the past, remembering her as “a good person” and an “authentic” one. “That’s my dream,” the actress-singer said.

Meanwhile, Sharon Cuneta shared previously that her weight loss journey was challenging. It took her 9 long years to achieve her desired weight and this came with a lot of sacrifices.
