Maresca penned a five-year deal with the Premier League club this summer.
He may be one of the Premier League’s most in-form players right now but Cole Palmer is not Enzo Maresca’s ‘favourite player’ at present, according to Joao Felix.
Palmer made history on Saturday when he became the first player ever to score four goals in the first half of a Premier League game.
The 22-year-old England international, who joined Chelsea from Manchester City last summer for an initial £40 million, helped the Blues secure a 4-2 victory over Brighton at Stamford Bridge.
A few days before the game, Palmer was at the EAFC 25 launch event in London alongside teammate Joao Felix, who was asked a number of quickfire questions.
In the interview with Sky Sports, Felix ‘lifted the lid’ on his teammates, with questions ranging from best hairstyle, the most likely to be a manager and the most hardworking player.
But perhaps the most interesting answer came when he was asked about Enzo Maresca’s so-called ‘favourite’ player.
After an awkward pause, Felix answered: “Moi”, which refers to Ecuadorian midfielder Moises Caicedo, who joined Chelsea last summer for a British-record fee of £115 million.
Maresca recently described Caicedo as a “very important player” after his start to the campaign, although he identified one area of his game which can still improve.
“I knew Moi already from Brighton, I watched a lot of games of Moi in that season. I think in this moment for us he’s a very important player,” the Italian said.
“He’s doing well, especially off the ball, but he can do much better on the ball and be more brave breaking the line. But I think with us he’s doing very well, but he can be even better on the ball.”

Caicedo has started more games than any other Chelsea player so far in 2024/25 and after his performance against West Ham last weekend, Maresca was once again full of praise for the defensive midfielder.
“He is top,” said Maresca. “His performance was very good, but since we started Moi has been fantastic and once again he was top.”
