Maricar Reyes Speaks Out Amid Anthony-Maris Controversy

In the middle of the fiasco—and after Maris and Anthony released their respective statements—Maricar posted a short but distinct statement. On Facebook, the celebrity wrote, “The pain & shame of mistake can be the first step towards the best & wisest version of yourself. Life is a marathon, not a sprint. Take full accountability, learn well & finish strong.”

Facebook users were quick enough to connect Maricar’s post to Maris’ situation. Earlier, the 27-year-old Kapamilya actress apologized for the mistakes she committed throughout her relationship with ex-BF Rico Blanco and Anthony.

One Facebook commenter boldly told Maricar below her post, “Your case was different. You’re a victim and Maris wasn’t and she isn’t remorseful and she never owned her mistake.”

I’m not a victim.” Their public exchange seems to be alluding to Maricar’s own experience in 2009, which she called the “darkest chapter of her life.” While she did not expound on the matter after her comment, her followers understood Maricar’s sentiment.
