Thousands of netizens and a couple of celebrities expressed their condolences to the family of the late Aegis singer.

Among the first celebrities to express their condolences were Paco Arespacochaga, Jay Sonza, and Saira Bunny Paras.

“Paalam Mercy Sunot 😥 Ang saya pa ng kwentuhan,” Paco Arespacochaga wrote in a Facebook post.

“Isang patak ng luha para kay Bb. MERCY SUNOT (AEGIS). Pride of Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental, Mindanao, Philippines ‘Akala ko ikaw ay akin, totoo sa aking paningin, ngunit nang ikaw ay yakapin, naglalaho sa dilim…’ Pahulay sa dayon Inday Mercy. Salamat sa imong mga awit. Kamakalawa lang nasa Eat BULAGA ka kasama ang Singing Queens,” Jay Sonza said in his post.

“Nakaka sad naman. Paalam Mercy Sunot. You’re so beautiful. Mahigpit na yakap #Aegis to your whole family and friends and my dear friend Angel Pe Awayan. I’m so sorry to hear this sad news. #Paalam Mercy, you were so full of life and very beautiful, such a wonderful voice and just warm and happy personality. My deepest condolences and prayers,” Saira Bunny Paras wrote in her post.

It can be recalled that as early as 8AM today, rumors about the popular vocalist’s passing started spreading online, though there were some who doubt it as Mercy was recently seen in a video giving her fans and followers an update about her condition.

 

Around half past eight, one of the band’s crew members, Frankie Ballesteros, made a post on his Facebook account, confirming the news.

“Rest and peace🙏🙏🙏 ate Mercy Sunot. Nakakagulat ka Naman Ang lakas lakas mo na sa mga post mo😭😭 condolences sa inyo ate Juliet and ken family sunot,” Frankie said in his post.

This was followed by the changing of the profile photo of Juliet Sunot into an image signifying the loss of a loved one.

Just last Saturday, Mercy was able to give an update in a video about her condition and the type of operation she underwent.

In that video, she even asked for prayers from her fans and followers.

As of this writing, Mercy’s family is yet to release details of the cause of death.

 

Mercy Sunot is one of the main vocalists of the Pinoy legendary rock band, Aegis. She is known for her vocal power and for singing powerful songs. Aegis is very popular for their songs “Halik,” “Basang-Basa Sa Ulan,” “Luha,” “Sinta,” and many more. The band was able to maintain their popularity in more than two decades in the industry with their songs becoming part of the lives of many generations of Pinoy music.

The sudden demise of the powerful voice behind the legendary Pinoy rock band Aegis has surprised many. Juliet Sunot, the sister of Mercy, also changed her profile photo into one that signifies losing a loved one. It can be recalled that Mercy was able to provide an update about her condition a couple of days ago.

It can be recalled that it was only last Saturday that Mercy herself gave an update about her condition. In a TikTok video, she tearfully recounted the trial she’s going through right now. She also gave details about the operation she recently underwent and how she’s feeling at the time.
