The comedic onscreen “romance” between Vice Ganda and Jackque Gonzaga made an unexpected turn on Monday, as the two shed tears in a heartfelt moment where the showbiz neophyte wished for the genuine happiness of the “Fantastica” star.
What unfolded to be a genuine exchange between the halves of “ViceJack” happened during the Miss Q&A segment of “It’s Showtime,” when Vice Ganda asked Gonzaga whether she includes him in her prayers.
Co-host Anne Curtis said she believed that Gonzaga was truthful, prompting Vice Ganda to ask what the dancer-turned-star specifically prays for.
“Sabi ko, i-bless ka, pati pamilya mo, pati happiness mo,” she said, before crying and getting a surprised reaction from Vice Ganda.
“Totoo,” Gonzaga answered, when Vice Ganda asked why she was suddenly in tears. “Totoong pinagdadasal talaga kita. Galing talaga sa puso ko ‘yon. Nag-uumapaw kasi ‘yung love and ‘yung hope and pag-wish ng puso ko para sumaya ka.”
Unable to hold back tears, Vice Ganda, who recently admitted to be in the process of moving on, was initially speechless at Gonzaga’s emotional message.
“Hindi ko alam kung ano sasabihin ko sa ‘yo. Masyado mo ako… Salamat. Huwag mo na ako isipin. Okay naman na ako,” he said, before advising her to keep excelling in her career and assuring her of his support.
Since the “ViceJack” tandem grew to popularity in 2018, Gonzaga has had a surge of career opportunities, from product endorsements to event guestings. Through and through, she has credited Vice Ganda for changing her and her family’s life.
