A cake is a staple during special celebrations, especially birthdays. However, this seemingly harmless food has caused a stir and made headlines involving several famous celebrities.

And for some odd reason, the cake became a common reason or denominator that put these personalities under hot waters.

Vice Ganda and Ion Perez

Their cake-licking scene on It’s Showtime has made headlines because of how others interpreted it. Because of this same incident, the MTRCB suspended Showtime but the suspension is not final yet.

Bea Alonzo

The cake issue of Alonzo stemmed after she was caught holding the cake of Kyline Alcantara who celebrated her birthday in All-Out Sundays. She offered to help but this sight offended some of her followers.

Alex Gonzaga

The actress-vlogger was criticized after she was recorded smearing cake on a waiter’s face. This turned out rude to many people online, hence, the intense bashing. According to the netizens, Alex wiping cake on a crew is just plain rude.

Donnalyn Bartolome

The vlogger made headlines online because of her “Tutong” cake during her “kanto”-themed birthday party. The rice was intentionally made “tutong” as part of the aesthetics of the party. People online found this “highly insensitive,” “offensive,” and “romanticizing poverty”.

Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes

Their cake is far from being controversial. It reached the headlines because of its massive size. This cake was made for their wedding day. It was a 12-foot 5-tiered cake that was carried by 10 people. Reportedly, the cake had Swarovski crystals and was worth Php 7 million.

Maine Mendoza

The case with the Kapuso actress was also far from controversial but caught much attention because of the roomful she received when she turned 24 years old. She reportedly received 67 cakes and cupcakes which were donated to churches and given to children.
