Netizens did not like what Julius Babao did on-air

Frontline Pilipinas news anchor Julius Babao was criticized by netizens for asking his fellow anchor Jervi Li-Wrightson, also known as Kaladkaren, about her marital status.

Jervi tied the knot with her husband Luke Wrightson last year. It was a dreamy wedding witnessed by their friends and loved ones. The wedding took place atop a cliff months after their second engagement.

Aside from the celebration of their love a newlywed couple, this was also a celebration for the LGBTQIA+ community because of the achievement that Jervi has achieved in life and relationship as a transwoman.

A month after their wedding last September 2024,Β Kaladkaren debuted her married nameΒ on TV5’s primetime news program Frontline Pilipinas. For her ending spiel, she said, β€œJervi Wrightson.”

Just recently,Β speculations surfaced that Jervi and Luke broke up. It was because of the news anchor’s TikTok video using the song lyrics β€œI saw it coming, I still cried. I thought when you left, you’d leave my mind.”

On the February 27 episode of Frontline Pilipinas, Julius Babao caught Jervi Li-Wrightson off guard whenΒ he asked her about the rumored breakup. Jervi was quite emotional after she was asked.

Although some netizens showed support and sympathy for Jervi, there were netizens who criticized Julius. For them, the veteran journalist was insensitive for asking that question on air. Here are some comments from netizens, based on the article in Balita.
