The new Manchester United head coach gave his first interview since joining the club.
Ruben Amorim has given his first interview since becoming Manchester United’s head coach.
Amorim, 39, was officially announced as United’s head coach on November 1, with the club confirming the news with a statement.
He replaced Erik ten Hag after the Dutchman struggled to build on last season’s FA Cup triumph with a poor start to the season this term.
The Portuguese only started in his new role on Monday, November 11, meaning Ruud van Nistelrooy stepped in as interim boss for the Carabao Cup and Premier League victories against Leicester City as well as the 1-1 draw against Chelsea.
Amorim arrived at Carrington on Monday and was greeted by several members of the United hierarchy, including sporting director Dan Ashworth, CEO Omar Berrada and technical director Jason Wilcox.
The former Sporting boss cuts a confident, self-assured figure and even surprised a few lucky fans who were embarking on a stadium tour when he turned up in the dressing room.
He could be seen shaking hands with several starstruck supporters who were at Old Trafford.
Now, he has given his first interview as head coach of the Red Devils.

Speaking to Manchester United’s official website [via MUTV] he discussed several topics.
He explained how he felt “relaxed” when being shown around the ‘Theatre of Dreams’ but did admit this may have been because it was not a matchday. He voiced how taking on the role was a “real honour” but insisted he will “need time”.
“We know that we need time, but we have to win time. To win time is to win games.
“But the most important thing for me is identity.
“So, from day one, we will start with our identity. The most important thing for me at this moment is to create the principles, the identity and the character that we had in the past.”
“If you work as a team, then the talent individually is going to shine,” he added.
Amorim then went on to discuss his admiration for the clubs history mentioning both Matt Busby and Sir Alex Ferguson.
“You see the trophies, you see the tragedy that we have as a club,” he continued.
“So you can understand the history, after the crash, then we were European champions.
“This kind of strength, I think it’s important to put in our team. When the players come here, they should make the same tour with the same guy all the time. I think this is very important to do.
“It’s one thing that you have to feel that this is Manchester United and and it’s normal. If you are a lot of years without winning, you start losing that.”
Amorim’s first game in charge will be away against Ipswich on November 24.
