Kapuso primetime queen Marian Rivera took to Instagram earlier today to clarify her take on the country’s alarming traffic issue.
During her recent press conference as Waltermart ambassadress, Marian was asked about her opinion on Manila’s heavy traffic. And in the said event, Marian mentioned that the hours one spends in the midst of traffic jam can be turned around to one’s advantage by using it as a “me time.”
Her response, which was also recorded on video, was published by Philstar.com.
Some Netizens didn’t take her piece lightly. Hence, the mother of two, despite staying firm with her answer, apologized right away for those who are offended by her opinion.
“We are all victims of trafficking, and we have our own way of coping with the situation.” Marian wrote in her IG post. “The question during the interview – if you watch and listen to the entire clip – was focused on my method of how I personally tackle this problem of our society, so I answered that according to what true to me— and to me alone. I just wanted to give a light take on my personal experience, but was misinterpreted.”
She added, “I didn’t take it all in and turned my statement into a public sermon.”
“If only Philstar.com had been more responsible in their headline and in not editing the question at the beginning of the original video, I wouldn’t be attacked out of context.”
Marian then promised to be careful the next time she comments on sensitive issues and that she hopes that journalists, in return, will be more responsible in creating articles involving opinions of celebrities.
“I stand by my answer and I take full responsibility, but I also apologize to those who were hurt, annoyed, offended and even just memes— I don’t want to do this to you. Next time, I will be more careful with what I say, and I hope the same goes for the newspapers that most people look up to.
“I recognize the hardship that Filipinos are going through in the ordeal given to all of us by traffic. Every minute wasted on the road should be spent being with our loved ones—no one likes that. Peace everyone ❤️.”
To end her post, she also pointed out that everything she has now, she definitely worked hard for.
“I’m not super rich, as Philstar.com says. Well, yes, because I worked hard for it.”
