It’s Showtime segment “EXpecially For You” tackled a coming out love story and had this emotional moment that touched many hearts.

Love is subjective. Regardless of one’s gender, everyone is capable of loving and everyone deserves to be loved. But before finding that one person and in the journey of a person’s self-discovery, there will be paths that will lead you not to the wrong people but to the people who will leave a lesson.

In the latest love story featured in “EXpecially For You“, everyone was touched hearing the story of Ivan and Novie. They did not end up together but the story they shared was something many people appreciated.

No one knows everything and that was what Ivan was and still is. He just did what he thought was right. He was sincere and loyal to this woman but no matter how good the intention was during that time, there was something inside him that was bugging him. Someone that he needed to let out, which was his true self.

Just like the other LGBTs, it was also hard for him at first to accept what he just realized as growing up, he was accustomed to the traditional ways of a relationship. He even came to a point of denying it but to no avail. It was already a ticking device ready to blast anytime.

They were together for over a year already when he finally completely embraced his true identity. He is gay but Novie was gracious enough not to put all the blame on him. It was painful and heartbreaking but she allowed her understanding to prevail during that time as for someone who has knowledge about people’s behavior, she has an idea of how hard it must have been for him.

Ivan expressed that with such realization, he needed to fight everyday as he is aware of the society’s discrimination. He quipped, “Kailangan kong tatagan kasi parang walang gustong tumanggap.”

During his darkest hours, Novie was the only one by his side who understood his situation despite their split. The other side of the story was he used her to prove something in himself and to confirm something regarding his identity but on the other side was someone who just needed a place to feel safe.

Vice Ganda can understand why he has done such a thing but it does not justify the actions he did in their relationship. The reason did not justify the pain he inflicted on her. The host has gone through the same situation and all he could ever say was to thank women like Novie whose been gracious and understanding to their confusion based on the video.
