Why Kim Chiu became emotional after renewing ties with ABS-CBN

Actress and TV host Kim Chiu recently signed a new exclusive contract with ABS-CBN, solidifying her commitment to her home network for the past 17 years.

“I started with nothing in my hand and in my pocket. I didn’t know how to sing, dance, act, and even speaking was painful to the ears,” she reminisced during the Keep Shining: The Kim Chiu Network Contract Signing. “But here I am, living my dream.”

The It’s Showtime host also reflected on how her life has transformed throughout her journey with Kapamilya, which began when she was proclaimed the grand winner of Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition 1 in 2006.

“Because of ABS-CBN, our lives improved. It wasn’t just my dream that came true, but also the dreams of my siblings. I’m tremendously grateful and blessed. I’m simply returning everything to my home network, ABS-CBN, because they helped me when I had nothing, so now they need my help, and I’m here. I will always be here, and I will always be a Kapamilya,” she added.

Joining her at the contract signing were ABS-CBN chairman Mark Lopez, ABS-CBN president and CEO Carlo Katigbak, ABS-CBN COO of broadcast Cory Vidanes, ABS-CBN head of TV Production and Star Magic head Laurenti Dyogi, and Star Magic’s Edith Fariñas.

Following the contract signing event, Kim shared that her fans should watch out for her upcoming projects aside from her hit Prime video series Fit Check and Dreamscape series, Linlang with Paulo Avelino and JM de Guzman.

Through the years, Kim has captured the hearts of Kapamilyas for her charm, charisma, and acting prowess, which made her one of the country’s bankable stars. Some of her notable works include Sana Maulit Muli, My Girl, Tayong Dalawa, Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin, My Binondo Girl, Love Thy Woman, and Star Cinema films Till My Heartaches End, Bride For Rent, Etiquette for Mistresses, The Ghost Bride, and a lot more. Aside from It’s Showtime, she is also a mainstay of ASAP Natin ‘To.
