Korean media repeatedly called DJ Koo to confirm the news that Barbie Hsu had died of the flu. The male singer finally confirmed: “This is not fake news.”

Responding to Korean newspaper Ilgan Sports on the morning of February 3, Koo Jun Yup (stage name DJ Koo) sadly confessed: “I’m not okay.”

What’s even sadder for DJ Koo is that his and his wife’s 3rd wedding anniversary is only 5 days away.

Before getting married, Barbie Hsu and Koo Jun Yup went through many challenges in love.

DJ Koo and Barbie Hsu were romantically involved in the early 2000s when they were both active in the entertainment industry. However, they broke up.

In 2011, Barbie Hsu married wealthy businessman Wang Xiaofei, giving birth to a son and a daughter. However, the couple announced their divorce in late 2021.

In early 2022, DJ Koo shared on social media: “I want to continue my love with the woman I loved 20 years ago.”

“After hearing the news of her divorce, I found her old phone number and tried calling. Luckily, the phone number was still the same and we talked again,” DJ Koo revealed.

DJ Koo appeared on tvN’s “You Quiz on the Block” that same year, expressing his deep love for Barbie Hsu.

“I am so grateful that after 20 years, she accepted me again. My goal is to spend the rest of my life with her, making sure she is happy, healthy and loved. I will always accompany my woman, cherish every moment. Together, I hope we can live a happy life,” he said.

DJ Koo and Barbie Hsu also have matching tattoos to show their passionate love rekindled after two decades.

Even the last post that Barbie Hsu shared on her personal channel was a message of support for her husband. This message made fans even more heartbroken by the sudden passing of the Taiwanese beauty icon.

Last December, Barbie Hsu shared a video of her husband performing on stage at the “2024 KBS Gayo Daechukje”, expressing her affection without hesitation by writing, “CLON (husband’s group name) is forever. DJ KOO is really amazing.”
