Julia Barretto says breakup rumors between her and Gerald Anderson are ‘compliments.’ Here’s why

Julia Barretto had an honest answer when she was asked her thoughts on netizens making up rumors that she and her boyfriend Gerald Anderson have put an end to their relationship.

During her guest appearance in a recent episode of Magandang Buhay, host Melai Cantiveros opened the topic of breakups and asked whether Julia is affected when issues surface on the internet that she and Gerald have allegedly split.

Airing her ill feelings about this, the actress said, “Parang ganun ang balita, every month for how many years na talaga. Hindi ko rin alam saan nanggagaling.”

She then shared that she eventually learned to just look at the brighter side of things and how she and Gerald are able to protect the privacy in their relationship.

“I think I’ll just take it as a compliment. I guess we’re able to create that private bubble of ours na hindi na nila alam masyado kung ano ang nangyayari sa partnership namin,” she said.

“I think it’s a conscious effort on our end na talagang protektahan, na hindi kailangang mag-over share, hindi dapat bawat galaw kailangan alam ng lahat, so siguro that’s why they think [na break na kami],” she added.

Julia assured viewers, however, that she and Gerald are “happy” with each other at this moment.

The local star’s comments on the status of her love life come as several celebrity couples have decided to put out the flames in their relationship, which include Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, Kim Chiu and Xian Lim, Jericho Rosales and Kim Jones, and allegedly, Sarah Lahbati and Richard Gutierrez.

The most recent couple to axe their romance is Bea Alonzo and Dominic Roque, whose breakup was confirmed by veteran television host Boy Abunda during his talk show.

Gerald and Julia sparked dating rumors a few months after the release of their 2019 film Between Maybes, before the actor finally confirmed their romance in March 2021 in an interview with Boy.
