Showtime Host Amy Perez Shares Experience of Letting Child Go

AMY PEREZ – The It’s Showtime host went emotional when they talked about letting children go and allowing them to live on their own.

One of the longest-running noontime variety shows in the Philippines is It’s Showtime. It is operating in the country since 2009 and has aired several segments already in the pursuit of entertaining the viewers.

Currently, one of the segments of Showtime is EXpecially For You. It usually features ex-lovers with one being the searcher and the other will help his/her ex-girlfriend find a new date among the searchees.

In some episodes, it featured solo parents who hope to make a new friendship again with the possibility of getting things deeper that can be a way to find new love. In other cases, best friends and family members appear at the show.

It's Showtime

Recently, in an episode of It’s Showtime‘s EXpecially For You, the hosts talked about the side of the parents when it is time to let the children go and allow them to live on their own. Showtime host Amy Perez went emotional as she shared her own experience.

Amy raised her child Adi following her separation with her ex-husband, Brix Ferraris. She found a new love in Carlo Castillo and they are blessed with two (2) sons.

During the episode of EXpecially For You, Amy Perez stressed that it is a huge sacrifice for the parents to give the children their freedom and allow them to live on their own. According to her, she experienced going through the tough situation when her son Adi had to leave their house and stay in a boarding house for his studies in a university.

Amy admitted that she cried a lot and it was the hardest thing to accept as a mother but she had to. Meanwhile, Amy Perez further expressed that letting go of the children is the greatest sacrifice of the parents but they should still be there when the children commit mistakes most especially the mother.

“Iyon yung greatest sacrifice ng mga magulang. ‘Yung i-let go ‘yung anak, hayaan na lumipad, mag-grow,” Tiyang Amy said.

According to Amy Perez, as time passed by, she learned to accept giving freedom to her son. She is happy about herself as she can now see the fruits of her reminders to her son as he grew to be an obedient son.

Tiyang Amy recalled that she used to rant on Adi on how to do things but, now, he does it on his own. She is proud that her son is living well in a way that does not cause distraction on other people and they would even regularly see each other. She and her sons spend a “Sundate” together every Sunday.
