Gloria Romero’s daughter and grandson, Maritess Gutierrez and Chris Balbin, received an apology from the owner of the Facebook page that released false information on the late veteran actress’ supposed last will and testament.
Several art cards and online posts earlier made rounds on social media, claiming that Romero has more than P700 million in the bank, and that certain percentages of it will supposedly be used to build a provincial high school and help charity institutions.
Maritess shared Facebook page Pinoy History’s public apology via her Instagram Stories on Thursday, Feb. 6, in which the page owner admitted to its team “creating false information that brought false news to the public.”
“For the information of the public, what you read in the post is wrong, incorrect and false news, Ms. Maritess did not even give an interview about it. In the desire of one of our admin to make her departure better, this ended up being a great shame on our part,” it said.
“We regret the wide dissemination of the photo that was turned into a vlog and shared thousands of times. I hope that with this post, we correct what is wrong,” it added. “What we did caused another sadness and worry to the family at the time when we should be giving condolences.”
Concluding its statement, it said, “Again, to Ms. Maritess and Sir Balbin, on behalf of the team, we sincerely and humbly apologize.”
