She auditioned to play a younger Marian in “Marimar,” “Dyesebel,” and “Darna”!

We all know that Barbie Forteza is one of the hardworking actresses of her generation, but little do we know that she actually failed to get the spot for—not just one— but three iconic roles she auditioned in.

During an interview on Fast Talk With Boy Abunda, the 26-year-old candidly shared that she had longed to play a younger version of another Kapuso A-lister, Marian Rivera. In fact, she tried her shot to be the young Marian in multiple teleseryes namely, Marimar, Dyesebel, and Darna.

“‘Yung unang tatlong roles ni Miss Marian Rivera, nag-audition po ako as a young (Marian). ‘Yung Marimar, Dyesebel at Darna,” Barbie revealed. she explained that there were different reasons that led to her not getting the parts.

For Marimar, Barbie disclosed that it was because of Fulgoso, Marimar’s dog best friend in the show. Laughing, she said, “Hindi po ako natanggap kasi takot ako sa aso noon. Eh ‘di ba, may Fulgoso, doon?”

Meanwhile, for Dyesebel, the only thing that hindered her from getting the role was her inability to swim. “Hindi ako marunong lumangoy. Ganda lang siya. Ganda lang ambag ni girl! Eh medyo ‘yun yung point ng show. Dapat marunong ka lumangoy,” Barbie jested.

Lastly, Barbie couldn’t become the young Darna as the show required her to do some flying stunts. “‘Nung Darna naman po, takot naman po ako sa heights. Hindi naman pwedeng lumipad. Hindi ko rin sure bakit ako nag-audition!”
