The Liverpool star has been fined after being late for the team training session.

Liverpool are preparing for their second Champions League game of the season but one of the players on their books has been hit with a fine for being late to a team session.

Arne Slot won his first European game in charge of the Reds against AC Milan and will look to repeat the victory on home soil against another Italian outfit in Bologna at Anfield.

But there has been disappointment for one of Liverpool’s most talented youngsters.

After returning from injury, 19-year-old midfielder Stefan Bajcetic was sent on loan to Red Bull Salzburg – managed by Jurgen Klopp’s former assistant Pep Lijnders.

He’s played four times so far but has now been taught a key lesson in professionalism.

Bajcetic is said to have had difficulty finding his boots and was therefore late for a training session on Monday afternoon, as per Salzburg 24.

As a result, the Spaniard had to pay a small fine, with Lijnders telling a press conference, “It will be around €500 the day before the game”.

The outlet said “the entire team was visibly happy and politely thanked the 19-year-old” for boosting the fine pot, which will go towards a future team activity.

On the club’s social media pages, a video of Bajcetic being greeted with a sarcastic applause was uploaded.

Bajcetic found himself on the bench for the Champions League clash with Brest, who blitzed Salzburg 4-0 on their own pitch.

Abdallah Sima struck twice, while Mahdi Camara and Mathias Pereira Lage were both on target in the resounding victory.

Bajcetic came on in the 77th minute, just after the fourth goal had been scored.

The former Celta Vigo academy player experienced a breakthrough campaign in the 2022/23 season and was rewarded with a new long-term deal.

However he was limited to just three appearances last term after struggling with an adductor injury.
