Kris Aquino reacts strongly to Piolo Pascual’s statement about women choosing love over career
On Aquino and Abunda Tonight, Piolo Pascual said his upcoming movie with Sarah Geronimo “The Breakup Playlist” is about a breakup but it is also a love story.
Piolo plays Gino in the movie and he is a music mentor and meets his would-be girlfriend, Sarah, in a music camp. Unfortunately, the conflict in the movie is that the woman he loves would also be his competition. Hugot Queen Antoinette Jadaone wrote the screenplay and her boyfriend Dan Villegas directed it.

Piolo also made a statement that got a strong reaction from host Kris Aquino. Piolo said women would generally choose love over career. Kris reacted, “if you’re the one who will be loved, if you’re as handsome as you, but if not, think about it (the girl!)”

Asked how it is working with Sarah, Piolo said it’s a different experience from when he just sees her as a performer on ASAP. With the movie, “we had to go through the journey of a love story.”

Host Boy Abunda also asked Kris and Piolo what are their breakup songs. Piolo’s breakup song is “All I Want Is You” by U2 while Kris’ is “I Don’t Wanna Be Your Friend.” Boy’s breakup song is “I Love You. Goodbye.”

Kris Aquino wants to team up with Piolo Pascual in a film that she herself will produce and write the script.

Kris revealed this in a video interview released by her management team Cornerstone Entertaiment, Inc., on August 1, 2020, Saturday morning.

“The reason I’m with Cornerstone is because I still have one dream left,” Kris said bluntly.

“I want to produce a horror movie because, it got shelved.”

Kris was referring to the (K)AMPON project that she and Derek Ramsay were supposed to collaborate on for MMFF 2019.

Derek backed out of the project, and the producers submitted the letter to the MMFF ExeComm late regarding the change of the leading man. The MMFF ExeComm did not agree, so the film was shelved, and its slot was replaced with the filmfest of Sunod, starring Carmina Villarroel.

Kris added, “And… I want a mature take that everybody can identify with about what married couples who are splitting up and what their children go through.

“I want to produce that movie and write that script. And I want Piolo Pascual to be my leading man.

“It’s not wrong to dream. And I want the two sons there to be Iñigo and Bimb. There’s casting! There’s a synopsis.”

Kris continued, laughing, “When you watch K-drama, you think of things. But, for a change, I don’t want cheating involved. That’s it.

“Because sometimes, marriages do break up not because of a third party. So… and I want this told from the point of view of a child in his early teens, and one in his early 20s. “Because we deserve to see it—from their point of view because they are the ones who are really suffering.

“Don’t steal my idea, huh?!” Don’t steal her idea, she also took it from the Koreanovelas she watched, right?!

But in truth, many are hoping that her talk show Love Life with Kris will be successful so that she can continue her active life in showbiz. It will start on August 15, Saturday, 5:00-6:00 p.m. on TV5.

It would also be good if she continues producing movies, and that would be a good idea especially if Papa P continues.

I spoke to someone close to Kris who said that they recently talked for more than two hours, and that the actress/TV host accepted all of his advice.

Kris’s hilarious response to the question of whether she is confident that she is still the Queen of All Media.

“No, because I’m now humble!”

Kris continued, “Wait, wait a minute! Hahahaha. I just want to clarify that, ha, because Bimb scolded me when I said, ‘I’m humble.’

“He said, ‘Mama, when you have to tell people that you’re humble, you’re actually not humble.’

“But I also think it’s wrong to label myself as the Queen. So, I’m… I’m making a comeback, I’m being honest. So, it will be up to the people to decide.” When a young girl tells him that she wants to be the next Kris Aquino, what will he say?

Kris shook her head, “Don’t. Please don’t.”

Who does she draw strength and inspiration from?

“I want my sons to be proud of me, because I’m all that they’ve got,” Kris said seriously.

“I want Bimb to not be forced to fight because of what his mother did. I also want my mommy to be smiling in heaven.

“And… I love my sisters very much, but my sister [Ballsy Aquino-Cruz] and I have a very special relationship. My sister will turn 65 this August. She’s for me the embodiment of my mom.

“So I want my sister to also feel that their baby is so deserving of their love.

“And I think for all of us Filipinos, eh… At our core, our children, our parents, our siblings are really important to us.

“With all the problems I’ve given our family, I know I can make them laugh too.

“So, now, I’m done with the problems.

“This time around, they have nothing else to do but be proud that their baby has matured.”

Negotiations took about seven months before her new talk show Love Life With Kris was launched.

“It’s destiny, I guess,” Kris said.

“It’s fated. Because, it happened, eh. It fell into place. So, that means… if it was meant to be… if the universe, right, conspires to make it happen, and if it’s God’s will for my life, it will happen.

“But if it wasn’t meant for me, no matter how much I kneel, pray, beg—it won’t happen.”

Kris says it’s not bad to dream, and if you’re just dreaming, that’s it!
