Social media is teeing off on Angel Reese over her post-game comments after the Chicago Sky broke the WNBA single-season rebounds record on Sunday.

Angel Reese had 399 rebounds coming into Sunday’s road game against the Minnesota Lynx, needing just six to break the WNBA single-season record that Sylvia Fowles set (405) back in 2018.

Reese broke that record during the second quarter, finishing with 19 on the day to easily break Fowles’ record. The Lynx went on to win 79-74, but it was still an unforgettable day for Reese, who now has a ridiculous 418 rebounds on the season.

The 22-year-old made headlines after the game when she pushed back against the notions that her rebound numbers are high because a) she corrals her own rebounds and b) is the tallest player on the court.

But let’s just say that social media wasn’t exactly buying Angel Reese’s comments:

The No. 7 pick of the 2014 WNBA Draft is averaging 13.3 points, 13.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists over her first 32 games with a 38.5 field goal percentage. Criticize her offense and inconsistent shotmaking all you want, but Reese’s rebounding record speaks for itself.

Reese and the Sky will try to get back on a winning note when they visit the Las Vegas Aces on Tuesday night. After that, they’ll begin a three-game homestand against the Los Angeles Sparks on Friday.

Angel Reese & Sky Are In A Fight For Their Playoff Lives

Chicago has now lost six in a row and nine of their last 11 altogether. They were sitting comfortably in a playoff spot at the Olympic break, but the Sky’s slump has created a wide-open four-way race for the No. 8 seed.

Heading into Monday’s action, the Sky are tied with the Atlanta Dream (11-21) for the eighth and final playoff spot. The Washington Mystics (9-23) and Dallas Wings (9-23) are just two games behind the Sky, too.
