A true celebrity shines when they use their influence for good. As Typhoon Carina devastated the country last July 24, 2024, we saw how some stars quickly extended help to those affected by the calamity. We even saw Gerald Anderson wading through floodwaters to help transfer a child to a safe place. And even when the typhoon has left, these personalities are proving that the spirit of bayanihan and malasakit can’t be washed away from this nation.

LIST: Filipino Celebrities At Various Typhoon Carina Relief Operations

1. Heart Evangelista

President of the Senate Spouses Foundation Inc. (SSFI) Heart Evangelista rallied her fellow senatorial wives together so they could distribute over 2,000 relief kits containing food, vitamins, and hygiene necessities at Sto. Niño Elementary School, Marikina. Soon after, she and the other members of SSFI reached out to the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) to assist in their efforts for abandoned and homeless furbabies.

2. Marian Rivera

Primetime queen Marian Rivera enlisted the help of her creative team—including stylists Melville Sy and Shark Tanael, plus news anchor Aubrey Carampel to pack relief goods as fast as they could. Fan accounts even spotted Marian herself being the one to shop for supplies at the supermarket.

3. Donny Pangilinan

Heartthrob Donny Pangilinan helped out Angat Buhay as they opened a lugaw kitchen at Urban Chick Maginhawa for those who needed a warm meal post-Carina. On his Instagram Stories, Donny shared his admiration for his fellow volunteers who went into overdrive to be of service. Donny also called on the commercial brands he endorses so he could put together relief packs.

4. Kira Balinger

Tumana, Marikina was one of the places heavily affected by Typhoon Carina as Marikina River waters rose to dangerous levels. It’s also where Kira Balinger shot her TV series Padyak Princess, so she returned to the area with boxes in tow.

She started her Instagram post saying, “Darna once said ‘Ang pinakamalaking kasalanan ay kapag may kakayahan kang tumulong pero wala kang ginawa.’ That’s one good thing that really stuck with me from that show.” She continues, “I’m not Darna, but just a simple person who wanted to share my blessings to those who were affected by super typhoon Carina.”

5. Jennylyn Mercado

Cosmopolitan Philippines May 2024 cover girl Jennylyn Mercado and her husband Dennis Trillo continuously called for and distributed donations in Marikina and Quezon City via StarTRUCK in the past few days. Taking its name from the reality show that kickstarted Jennyln’s career, StarTRUCK has constantly aided typhoon survivors since 2020 when Typhoon Ulysses caused havoc to our shores.

6. Michelle Dee

Miss Universe Philippine 2023 Michelle Dee fulfilled her duties as ambassador for the Philippine Red Cross as she called on her followers to join typhoon relief efforts.
