AMIDST the spotlight of his buzzer-beating game-winner against Rain or Shine, San Miguel star June Mar Fajardo actually hit two career milestones in Thursday’s PBA Season 49 Governors’ Cup match.
Fajardo climbed to seventh-place in the PBA’s all-time total rebounds list after grabbing 21 in the Beermen’s dramatic 113-112 win, giving him 5,846 for his career. He surpassed Philip Cezar, who had a total of 5,834 over his 17 years in the league according to statistics chief Fidel Mangonon.
Fajardo also tied former SMB player Danny Seigle for 10th all-time in free throws made after draining five against the Elasto Painters.
Just another day in the office for ‘Kraken’
The two milestones became a footnote after Fajardo nailed a buzzer-beating long two in a wild ending to San Miguel’s win, doing so after being down by one following Felix Lemetti’s four free throws.

Perhaps the most impressive fact in the eight-time MVP’s milestone in rebounds is that he did so in only his 10th season in the league. Ramon Fernandez is the all-time leading rebounder with 8,652, which he collected for 20 seasons.
Fernandez is followed by Abet Guidaben with 8,570 (21 seasons), Jerry Codinera with 7,034 (17 seasons), Asi Taulava with 6,410 (24 seasons), and Alvin Patrimonio with 6,152 (17 seasons).
Next up for Fajardo is another former Beerman and ex-league MVP in Arwind Santos, who stands at sixth after accumulating 5,978 in his 16-year career.
