Fathers are considered the pillar of every home. Everyone is coping just to support their family.
The situation may vary from family to family. There may also be a so-called absentee father. There is also focus and a palpable presence every time.
But for sure, each child has a unique story—precious memories or valuable advice from their father, papa, daddy, or appa.
And some of the celebrities shared it with us this Father’s Day.

“What he said to me that made a mark —which was just recently—he said: ‘The real ordeal of life is in your old age. Because that’s when you realize that you should have saved more. That’s when you realize how health is wealth. That’s when you realize that how you eat is what will make your body the certain way.’
“Relationship, forgiveness and just the basic anxiety stuff that my Dad feels about his immortality.
“He always says, ‘It’s good to live, isn’t it? Imagine , maybe [in] five years I’ll be dead . So I was, ‘Dad, stop saying that.’ But you know, it’s true. That’s the real ordeal of life when you get old and think of that stuff.”
JOROSS GAMBOA
“Playing and that’s what’s good about my dad , he’s open that he’s not a perfect dad. But he tells me this now that I have a child. Apparently, I will be a father by then.
“He said, ‘Just follow me what I have done right. Don’t imitate ‘the wrong ones.’
“There are children of the same age that when you admit too much that you are wrong, it is right to admit that you are wrong, but don’t show that it is all wrong, especially the teenagers, they have a different mindset . ”
“So, his advice is , that’s right, don’t follow his mistakes. Just follow the right things he did. Basically, that’s it.”
BARBIE FORTEZA
“Daddy doesn’t like to give advice , but what I can’t forget is, during the Meant To Be [days], I became a bold star, Hahaha!
“‘ Our stylist , she has a one piece and then a two piece. I asked daddy what he wanted me to wear. Because, he’s with me. So, I said, ‘What do you want me to wear, the one-piece wrapped up or the two-piece all- out . Daddy said , ‘You, if you feel comfortable wearing a two-piece. Besides, you worked out, so don’t wear two-pieces anymore.
“That’s it! He is such a supportive father that I feel , he is not normal. For a father who is so supportive. And then he was aware that the four men [ in the cast] would see me in a two-piece. And he was there too, he was also taking pictures.
“And he never interfered with my decision in life. He always said, ‘Alright, we’ll find a way to make your plan work.’ He adjusts easily.”
HOW ROBERT
“We don’t have a father anymore . He passed away, I was only five years old and Sanya (Lopez) was three years old . My father, our manager , Kuya Germs (German Moreno) and the people who help us.
“ Their advice to us is, as long as we don’t offend anyone and stay humble.”
CHRISTIAN BAUTISTA
“My father gave me the lesson of hard work. He also gave me the chance to discover what I really want for myself.
“Before I joined my very, very first singing contest almost 20 years ago, after graduating from Landscape Architecture, I was doing theater pa, doing small commercials, handling out leaflets and he saw na parang I was enjoying it.
“Pero of course, as a father, sabi niya, ‘Hey, you still have an education that we paid for. So, I need you to make sure that in two years, this path, whether theater, commercial, or whatever will eventually pay for your life. That is a very responsible thing to say and I appreciated it naman, the challenge.
“Thank God naman that it did, but ’yung fact na he gave me the chance to discover…to discover and work hard for myself.”
JULIE ANNE SAN JOSE
“ My dad didn’t want me to do showbiz before. As in, he never liked it. There was a point that I had to choose between working and studying.
“And at that time, I was at the screening of PopStar Kids, we were already Sugar Pops . I was with Rita (Daniela). He didn’t know that I auditioned for PopStar Kids. My mom and my sister and I just went to the mall , at that time … it was still SOP days .
“ So, at that time , we were just passing by and saw that there was an audition. Then, mommy said , ‘ You can try to audition.’ We didn’t do anything that day.
“Then, I was accepted until papa found out that I entered the contest. At first, he’s fine with it. When I didn’t win, he said, ‘That’s enough. Just study. Focus on your school .’ I accepted it. I said, go ahead, maybe it’s not for me.
“And then, I studied, I focused on my studies . And then, an opportunity came , GMA gave a break and I sang a theme song of the primetime song which was Dyesebel and it was so big because it’s Ate Marian Rivera and Kuya Dong Dantes .
“I said, ‘Lord, why is there another opportunity?’ Until it continued. But at that time, my dad was still not convinced . He gave an ultimatum: ‘Study or work.’
“I didn’t give him a definite answer, because I don’t want to regret and give up on something I haven’t tried yet.
“I really worked hard for it. I juggled my time with work and getting a diploma. That’s one of the things I’m proud of . To give my parents a diploma. And that’s what I learned, never stop dreaming. Focus on the things you want to do . Be patient. Be responsible and he even taught me in experiences in life, not only in mistakes but in experiences.
“And ‘Always, always be grateful’ is what I learned from him.”

“My dad and I are like friends . When we talk, he gives advice. And I guess, the most I learned from him, the things we want to achieve in life should be worked for.
“It’s a better feeling that before you reach what you dream of, you go through hardship first.
“Because, you will appreciate all the things you have more when you see all the struggles you went through.
“At the same time, he always taught me that yes, in this industry, you are talented , you have a lot to show them, but to last in the industry, talent is not the only thing there. There are many other things and one of them is being with people.”
CHRIS BERNAL
“Me and my daddy , our communication in messaging is consistent . He doesn’t live with us anymore. So, what, I send him food.
“I was young when they separated, maybe about 12 [years old]. But I grew up as a Daddy’s Girl. So, I didn’t have a crush on him, maybe because of the shortcomings, but it was understood . Until now, I still seem to be his favorite . Of course, I also don’t want to lose the fact that he is my dad . I still keep him even though I don’t see him. We say hello.
“At my wedding , he was still with me and it was comfortable for him and mommy to be together at my wedding .
“And maybe, when it comes to money, he says, ‘Don’t be dazzled… don’t be dazzled by fame. Keep your feet on the ground. And ‘those people who helped you even if you weren’t an actor, don’t forget them.’
“So, I think, that’s what impressed me because he always told me that. If I still end up like that? Do I still talk to that person? Can I still bond with our relatives, the ones like that.”
