SHOCK: Pinagtawanan ni Karylle ang kuwento ni Janella Salvador-Kim Chiu, sumugod ang mga fans sa pag-atake

Karylle Speaks On Janella Salvador-Kim Chiu’s Viral Banter

‘She just couldn’t sing at the moment,’ Karylle said.Karylle talks about Janella Salvador's viral 'It's Showtime' guestingDays after Janella Salvador went viral for a seemingly harmless remark on It’s Showtime, one of the noontime show’s mainstay hosts spoke about the issue. Karylle made a clear statement regarding Janella’s viral guesting.

During a radio interview, Karylle was asked about her thoughts about Janella’s response to Kim Chiu, who had requested a “sample” or a snippet of her new song, “Headtone.” Janella was honest enough to decline the request because she wasn’t feeling her best.

Karylle expressed her understanding for Janella who is a fellow singer. “It’s just that Janella is not feeling so well, and she’s preparing for her big concert, and she’s doing movie press. Siguro she’s not able to really rest and recover properly,” she said in her interview.

Recalling Janella’s response to Kim’s snippet request was, “Medyo paos ako today.” Janella replied as she held her throat, “Kayo na lang,” pointing to Kim and the other hosts.

Kim then addresses the audience, “Ahpakinggan na lang namin [yung song]” while Darren Espanto interjects, “Sa susunodmag-prod ka na lang dito sa Showtime.

Janella then promises the hosts and the audience that she will perform for them the next time she’s there. “Next time, promise!” she noted.

For Karylle it was simply because Janella wanted to give her best performance that she had to decline the request. “So, we just asked her to do sampol, sampol, but she wasn’t ready for it because, obviously, she wants to be in tip-top shape for her concert. So, yeah, yeah, it was like a little moment that, you know, parang maybe to some people online, it meant something,” Karylle stated.

She added, “But, you know, she just really couldn’t sing at that moment.”

Karylle shared a quick backstory about Janella’s remark

Karylle further explained that Janella was actually referring to an earlier singing segment from Kim and another co-host Anne Curtis, when she said, “Kayo na lang.”

“Kim Chiu and Anne Curtis did “Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw,” so she [Janella] meant was, “You guys sing so well [like the] voice ni Sheryn and it was so high, going higher and higher…”

“That’s why she [Janella] said, “Kayo na lang,” kasi that’s what she meant. That was her reference naman,” Karylle explained.

As for Vice Ganda, who appeared to have mocked Janella’s response in the latter segment of the noontime show, Karylle defended the co-host and argued that Vice actually arrived late and was not able to witness Kim and Anne’s song.

After all, Karylle sees the incident as a result of the sample culture in It’s Showtime, where people usually give in to the sample requests of the hosts. For her, perhaps that’s the reason why some netizens did not seem too happy about Janella’s response.
