Bato Dela Rosa Malapit nang Arestuhin? Palasyo, Naghahanda na Makipagkamay sa Interpol, Umabot sa Tuktok ang Tensiyon/hi

Palace to Cooperate with Interpol in Case of Arrest Warrant for Bato Dela Rosa
The Malacañang Palace clarified that they are ready to cooperate with the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) in case the International Criminal Court (ICC) issues an arrest warrant against reelectionist Senator Bato dela Rosa.

In a press briefing held on Friday, March 14, 2025, Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro explained that the Palace has no choice when it comes to their obligations to Interpol. According to Castro, they cannot choose which cases they will cooperate with or not, because this is part of their responsibility as a country.

“It’s still the same, we can’t choose. If this was done and coordinated, we cooperated with Interpol, because the former President is the subject of the arrest warrant, we can’t choose, there is no special treatment,” said Castro.

He stated that government processes are based on policies and cannot discriminate against individuals, regardless of their status or position in society.

Castro continued his statement that when there are cases like this, where there are valid arrest warrants ordered and continued by the ICC, the government must follow the established processes, which will be a step to ensure that the law is followed correctly.

“If this happens to other suspects with arrest warrants, as long as the arrest warrant is valid and it is enforced through Interpol, we will still do what the government is supposed to do,” Castro added.

Remember that on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, former President Rodrigo Duterte was arrested by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court, with Interpol involved in the operation to arrest him. Duterte’s arrest is a major event in the country’s history, and has opened the door to deeper discussions about the government’s actions and the reactions from the former President’s allies and critics.

The Palace’s release of these statements aims to clarify their position and demonstrate their commitment to the Philippines’ international obligations. The government’s actions demonstrate that they do not view cases based on the personal interests or status of those involved, but rather on compliance with the law and international agreements.

Ultimately, the statements from Atty. Castro serve as a reminder that these processes are already enshrined in existing laws and cannot be circumvented or changed, regardless of the personal views or opinions of those in power.
