Paulo Avelino was among the stars who attended a gathering dubbed by Angel Locsin as #ParaKayB, following Bea Alonzo’s falling out with her ex-boyfriend Gerald Anderson.

MANILA — In the wake of Bea Alonzo’s revelation that her boyfriend of three years, Gerald Anderson, did not accord her a formal breakup and “just started not talking to me,” the word “ghosting” became a widespread trend among Filipinos on social media.

On Twitter, in particular, the term referring to ending a relationship by suddenly stopping all communication topped trending topics, with numerous celebrities, including Paulo Avelino, tweeting using its hashtag.

But Avelino took it a step further by directly mentioning a personality involved in the controversy.

“Na-Bea Alonzo ka na ba, bes? #ghosting,” he said in a tweet that rapidly went viral and continued to gain traction as of writing.

Speaking with ABS-CBN News’ MJ Felipe on Thursday, Avelino was asked for his reaction to his remark going viral.

“It doesn’t really matter if it trends or not. It’s just to make everything lighter,” the actor said.

Avelino, who was paired with Alonzo in the 2018 romance film “Kasal” and the 2014 primetime drama “Sana Bukas Pa Ang Kahapon,” also confirmed that he spoke with the actress after her falling out with Anderson.

“Mukhang okay naman. She’s getting better,” he said of the last time he saw Alonzo on July 23 when they, along with fellow Kapamilya stars, gathered for dinner after the “Forever Kapamilya” trade event.

That was three days before Alonzo revealed that Anderson has cut communication with her.

Angel Locsin, Alonzo’s onscreen sister in the 2013 film “Four Sisters and a Wedding,” was among those present at the gathering. At the time, she posted a group photo with the hashtag #ParaKayB, signifying their support for the actress.

Anderson has yet to speak up on his split with Alonzo. Anderson’s “Between Maybes” leading lady Julia Barretto, whose relationship with the actor has become the subject of speculation, has similarly evaded addressing the controversy.
