Regine Tolentino’s Nip Slip Horror
Regine: “I kind of overdid it during my performance, and I had a costume mishap.”
Regine Tolentino apologized for her wardrobe malfunction during a dance number on It’s Showtime last July 14, 2023.
The wardrobe malfunction occurred during the opening dance number with Sheree on the Kapamilya noontime show. Both were wearing sexy outfits, but Regine accidentally exposed herself because her top was not secured properly due to the rush before the performance.
The production team acted quickly to delete the video of their dance number, and it is no longer available on the It’s Showtime episode.
WHY THE WARDROBE MALFUNCTION HAPPENED
Hours after the incident, Regine posted on Facebook to explain why the wardrobe malfunction occurred. She mentioned that their production number was inspired by Britney Spears and that they had limited preparation time.
Due to the rush, her glam team could not secure her outfit properly. “We had a short time preparing for the live performance, and my staff from RTA [Regine Tolentino Atelier] were still securing my costume seconds before going on stage,” Regine wrote.
“Because of the rush and stress before hitting the stage, the other nipple tape was not secured properly, but the costume itself was super safe.”
Regine stated that while dancing, she didn’t realize her wardrobe malfunction until the production team signaled her. “Some close and concerned It’s Showtime hosts, dancers, and staff were shouting during my dance, but I couldn’t understand until I looked down. I was so terrified and humiliated. However, the show must go on, and I finished my dance.”
She extended her apologies for the unfortunate incident, appreciating the It’s Showtime! family for protecting her by removing her part from YouTube and disabling the fast forward and rewind features.
In the edited version of that episode, Regine and Sheree’s dance number was cut, leaving only the conclusion. It clearly shows Regine checking her outfit to ensure everything was in place.
Regine thanked hosts Vhong Navarro, Amy Perez, and Vice Ganda for their support. She participated in the “Rampanalo” segment of the show and apologized afterward, saying, “I just want to apologize for what happened during my performance. It was unintentional because it was a live show, so I’m sorry for the costume malfunction earlier.”
