Real Madrid 'agree January deal' with Champions League winner set to join on free transfer

Carlo Ancelotti’s side could look to recruit in January.

A highly rated 24-year-old has ‘rejected’ Manchester United and Barcelona in favour of a move to Real Madrid, which could be ‘agreed’ in January.

Madrid have endured a tough start to the season as they currently trail La Liga leaders Barcelona by six points, having suffered an embarrassing 4-0 defeat at the hands of their arch-rivals on October 26.

Los Blancos have also lost twice in the Champions League after Lille and AC Milan shocked Carlo Ancelotti’s side, leaving them 16th out of 36 teams in the group phase.

To add to the mixed form, Madrid have been dealt several long-term injury blows, with both Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao set to be sidelined following anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries in recent weeks.

Ancelotti’s future is under scrutiny, with Bayern Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso touted to take over at the Santiago Bernabeu next summer.

However, in January, Madrid could be set to sign Bayern Munich on a pre-contract agreement in the winter transfer window, according to reports by Football Espana.

Davies has history in the Spanish capital, having scored a stunning right-footed strike in the 2023/24 Champions League semi-final before Madrid scored two late goals to progress to the final.

The 24-year-old is out of contract at Bayern this summer and is unlikely to sign a new deal at the Bavarians according to various reports.

As a result, he would join Madrid for free if a deal can be agreed between the club and the player.

However, nothing has been signed according to the player’s agent Nedal Huoseh.

“Done deal with Real Madrid?” he said when speaking to Fabrizio Romano.

“This is not true.

“Though the player has many options, we have not agreed terms with any club”.

He even refused to rule out the possibility of a new deal at Bayern.

“New deal at FC Bayern could also be an option,” he added.

“Any reports suggesting otherwise are incorrect.”

Davies has featured nine times in the Bundesliga since Vincent Kompany took charge of the club but he has failed to put together a consistent run of good form.

Ancelotti’s current first-choice left-back at Madrid, Ferland Mendy, has been in poor form this season, and Davies could provide a younger option with something to prove.

Barcelona also contacted the player’s representatives, according to Marca, but a deal was turned down.

The report also suggests the same happened to Manchester United, who are likely to look to recruit several players in the coming transfer windows following the arrival of new head coach Ruben Amorim.

Fellow Bundesliga star Jonathan Tah has been linked with a move to Madrid, with rumours regarding the future of Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold also continuing to circulate as his contract is set to expire this summer.
