Federico Chiesa joined Liverpool from Juventus during the summer transfer window.

Liverpool have reportedly made a decision on the future of Federico Chiesa less than six months after the Italian joined the club.

During what was a worryingly quiet transfer window, Liverpool brought in Chiesa from Serie A giants Juventus on a cut price deal.

However, the 26-year-old has had a tough start to life in English football after injuries limited him to only one start for the club.

During his full debut, Chiesa provided an assist as Liverpool beat West Ham United 5-1 in the Carabao Cup.

As a result of his lack of fitness, there were reports linking him with a move away from Anfield when the January transfer window opens.

However, a recent report by Football Insider has stated that Liverpool will not be selling any of their first team players during the winter window.

Chiesa, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Wataru Endo will not be allowed to leave.

The report stated: “Liverpool will not weaken their squad by selling any of their first-team members in the January transfer window.

“Arne Slot is happy with the composition of his squad and wants to improve it in the new year, rather than weaken it. All three are set to have moves blocked in January as Slot sets his sights on success in his first season in the Anfield hot seat.”

In Europe, Liverpool have so far won all four matches as they also sit top of the Champions League table, two points ahead of Sporting Lisbon.

Speaking after Tuesday night’s 4-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen, Slot said: “Like many times now, managers change their game plan when they come to Anfield or when they play us – that’s also what we saw today. We’ve seen a lot of games from Leverkusen but I’ve never seen [Victor] Boniface playing from the left. So, they played without a nine and that’s why they overloaded the midfield a lot.

“It was quite difficult to press them high. But the good thing was that we hardly conceded anything and I think during the first half if there were chances, they were for us.”

He added: “But [in the] second half we could adjust to the game plan of the first half, we took a bit more risks, we were better with the ball as well. Normally they defend more in a 5-2-3, now they defended in a 4-4-2, so they changed quite a lot and we could adjust to that at half-time.”
