“Nope. I’m not a victim,” Maricar responded to a commenter.
Maricar Reyes-Poon offered her thoughts on taking full accountability for a mistake, a sentiment that may or may not have been inspired by the intrigue that dominated the first week of December 2024.
ICYMI (although we doubt that you did), Anthony Jennings and Maris Racal‘s cheating issue was the hottest celebrity news that got everyone recently hooked. Anthony’s now ex-girlfriend, Jam Villanueva, posted via Instagram screenshots of Maris’ alleged convos with Anthony, and now the people of the Internet had a lot to say.
In the middle of the fiasco—and after Maris and Anthony released their respective statements—Maricar posted a short but distinct statement. On Facebook, the celebrity wrote, “The pain & shame of mistake can be the first step towards the best & wisest version of yourself. Life is a marathon, not a sprint. Take full accountability, learn well & finish strong.”
Facebook users were quick enough to connect Maricar’s post to Maris’ situation. Earlier, the 27-year-old Kapamilya actress apologized for the mistakes she committed throughout her relationship with ex-BF Rico Blanco and Anthony.

Maricar did not hold back and responded to the commenter declaring that she was not the victim. She said, “nope. I’m not a victim.” Their public exchange seems to be alluding to Maricar’s own experience in 2009, which she called the “darkest chapter of her life.” While she did not expound on the matter after her comment, her followers understood Maricar’s sentiment.
Replying to her post, online citizens agreed with how Maricar pointed out making mistakes and moving forward from it. One comment read, “I agree! Take it from Maricar Poon. Nagkamali at tinama ang mali. Every day is a chance you get to change that one mistake.”
Another stated. “The best advice that I’ve seen in SocMed.”
