MANILA — It appears no intrigue will strain the camaraderie between Julia Barretto and Kim Chiu, who are heading rival teams in the highly anticipated All-Star Games featuring artists of ABS-CBN.

Barretto and Chiu are the captains of the blue and red teams in the women’s volleyball category of the event, which will be held on August 25 at the Araneta Coliseum.

Going by their updates on Instagram, the two Star Magic talents, along with their teammates, attended volleyball training on Monday.

Barretto shared a group photo in her Instagram Stories, with the caption: “Team Blue and Team Red. This is going to be fun @chinitaprincess.”

“Team Red is shaking [right now]!” Chiu playfully answered, with a re-post of Barretto’s update.

Barretto replied: “We’re both shaking right now! At the end of the day, we’re all in one team! Support!”

“See you Thursday, Julie!” Chiu said. “See you mga Kapamilya sa Sunday! Let’s all have fun!”

Chiu’s words were an echo of her statement last Friday, when asked for her message to her and Barretto’s fans who might resort to heckling.

“Diyos ko, let’s all have fun on the 25th, kasi minsan lang mangyari ‘to… Bawal mag-boo! No! Wala, dapat happy lang lahat. Dapat fun and games — iyon ang isip nila ‘pag pumasok sila sa Araneta Coliseum,” Chiu said at the time.

The volleyball match-up became the subject of jokes and intrigues in recent weeks, amid the controversy romantically linking Barretto with Chiu’s former boyfriend, actor Gerald Anderson.

Chiu and Anderson were long-time onscreen and real-life partners until 2010. Anderson’s most recent relationship with actress Bea Alonzo had a bitter end in July, with Barretto becoming the target of accusations of causing the breakup.

Anderson has already cleared Barretto’s name in the separation.
