A separate hearing involving City is already ongoing – and could have a key impact on their hearing into their 115 charges.
Manchester City are reportedly set to learn the outcome of their case involving Premier League rules after taking legal action.
The case is separate to the one involving their 115 alleged breaches of financial rules – charges brought against them by the Premier League.
In June, City took legal action against the Premier League over their current Associated Party Transaction (APT) rules, arguing them to be ‘unlawful’.
The regulations are designed to prevent clubs from inflating commercial deals with companies linked to their owners, and each transaction must be independently assessed to ensure they are of ‘fair market value’.
The outcome of the hearing could have an impact on the separate hearing against City’s 115 charges, which begins next Monday.
According to The Times, a two-week hearing into the APT rules has already been held.
Present at the hearing were representatives from several Premier League clubs, with some providing evidence for City and others siding with the Premier League.
It is claimed that the hearing went ‘well’ for City’s legal team, and that the club expect to score ‘some form of victory’ in the case – although to what extent is unclear.
What are the 115 charges against Manchester City?
Once the hearing into the separate case involving the Premier League and City gets underway, evidence surrounding the following charges will be heard:
Failure to provide accurate and up-to-date financial information from 2009/10 to and including 2017/18 – 54 alleged breaches
Failure to co-operate with Premier League investigations from December 2018-February 2023 – 35 alleged breaches
Failure to provide accurate financial reports for player and manager compensation from 2009/10 to and including 2017/18 – 14 alleged breaches
Breaches of Premier League profit and sustainability regulations from 2015/16 to and including 2017/18 – Seven alleged breaches
Failure to comply with UEFA’s regulations, including UEFA’s Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play regulations – Five alleged breaches
