MANILA — While their emotions were still high after watching “And the breadwinner is…”, the movie’s lead star Vice Ganda gave BINI members Mikha, Maloi, Aiah and Jhoanna a warm hug.
Vice surprised them after the block screening they organized for their families and friends. But more than the rollercoaster of laughter and tears during the movie, Vice shared why it was important for the nation’s girl group to see her latest MMFF film.
“I’m very thankful na napanood nila. Ine-explain ko sa kanila how important it is for them to see this movie, kasi napakaraming breadwinners ang kumakapit sa kanila ngayon. Dinugdugtungan nila yung buhay ng maraming breadwinners, nagtatanggal sila ng pagod ng napakaraming nagpapakahirap na hardworking na breadwinners kasi kino-congratulate ko silang lahat,” she said.
It’s been a week since the movie’s release and people have been posting their feedback and insights after watching the film. Vice described it as the “And the breadwinner is…” effect.
“Natutuwa ako sa magandang effect sa kanila, pag-uwi ng bahay nila hindi na lang ako magsasalita yayakapin ko na lang yung nanay ko. Yayakapin ko na lang ‘yung kuya. Aayusin ko na lang yung kuwarto ng kapatid ko. ‘Pag inisip mo maliit lang ‘yun sa pang-araw-araw na pangyayari sa loob ng bahay, pero napakalaki na ng impact nun para sa isang breadwinner na pagod na, para sa isang breadwinner na hindi na nagsasalita pero naghahanap ng konting lakas sa pagmamahal na ipapakita ng pamilya niya,” she explained.
She added, “May magandang effect itong pelikula sa lahat.”
“As early as sa mga kabataan nila, nare-realize na nila na ‘ay ganun pala yung nangyari sa kapatid ko, sa nanay at tatay ko’ Kaya maaga palang, namulat sila, maaga palang makakapaghanda na sila lalo na kung naka-relate ka sa nangyari, sasabihin mo talaga ‘hindi Ito mangyayari sa pamilya’,” she stressed.
Another scene in the movie that resonated to the viewers, especially to Vice Ganda’s mother, was that moment when Bambi (Vice Ganda) just laid down on the floor together with her mom, siblings and grandkids. It resonated so much to her mother, she requested that they do the same thing as they welcome the new year.
That explains the photo Vice shared on her social media.
“We were that family before. Sa sahig kami nakahiga, sa banig. Tapos sabi ng nanay ko, gusto ko mag-pajama party tayo, magsama-sama lang tayo. Pero sisiguraduhin natin na masaya tayo pag ginawa natin yun.”
Overall, Vice is happy that she was able to make a film that tugged and touched the hearts of many Filipinos.
“Masarap (sa pakiramdam), na nagkaroon ng magandang effect itong pelikulang ito sa maraming tao.”
And now after a long wait, “And the breadwinner is…” will premiere in different territories abroad in the next few days.
