In 2024, singer-performer Darren Espanto became the newest It’s Showtime host. He is an addition to the family of hosts of the show along with Vice Ganda, Anne Curtis, Vhong Navarro, Jhong Hilario, Teddy Corpuz, Jugs Jugueta, Karylle, Ryan Bang, Kim Chiu, Ogie Alcasid, Amy Perez, Ion Perez, MC, Lassy, Jackie Gonzaga, and Cianne Dominguez.
As he joined, an unexpected team-up of Darren and Jackie Gonzaga happened.
The hosts teased them and #JaRen loveteam was born with some of the kilig and delighting kulitan moments of them trending online. Last December 2024, they became a trending topic again after a video of Jackie dancing on top of Darren surfaced online.
Many people reacted to it with some disagreeing with it and some getting the kilig feeling as they fully support the love team. In a recent episode of Showtime, Vice talked about it and shared that when the video went viral, Jackie called her about it.
“Tawag siya agad. ‘Meme, may video na naman ako. Send mo sa’kin. Patingin!’” the comedian shared. Jackie forwarded the video to her and her reaction based on the recent episode was, “Okay lang yan magkakapatid tayo dito.”
To recall, the teasing started during an episode of “Expecially For You”. They did a skit that was directed by Vice and that was when their chemistry was discovered. Sparks flew in their gestures and the way they looked at each other.
The other hosts started making fun of them after something intriguing happened in the after-party of their Magpasikat 2024. There was also a time when Jackie sweetly described Darren as “maalaga” and “mapagmahal” and the teasing happened again.
