A surprising news recently surfaced after reports that GMA Executive Annette Gozon seemed to regret the loss of the TVJ trio—Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon—from their network. Despite the trio’s successful transfer to TV5, it appears that their loss has had a significant impact on GMA, especially when it comes to sponsorships and ratings.
According to an insider, GMA seems to have realized that TVJ is not just a television personality but an institution that can attract millions of viewers and big advertisers. Because of this, there are rumors that some GMA executives, including Annette Gozon, want to negotiate to bring TVJ back to their backyard.
However, it is not yet clear if this is even possible, especially since the trio seems happy and secure in their new home on TV5. The question now is: Will TVJ return to GMA, or will they remain loyal to their new network? What will GMA do to regain its dominance in noontime TV? Stay tuned for the next developments!
Annette Gozon-Valdes still wants to work with TVJ, other EB hosts on GMA
Even though they have resigned from TAPE, Incorporated and will no longer be seen on the “new” Eat Bulaga, GMA Senior Vice President Annette Gozon-Valdes still wants to work with former Senate President Tito Sotto III, Vic Sotto, and Joey De Leon (TVJ) as well as those who joined their hosts, Jose Manalo, Wally Bayola, Paolo Ballesteros, Allan K, Ryzza Mae Dizon, Ryan Agoncillo, and Maine Mendoza.
According to an interview with an executive of the Kapuso Network, the fact that they had problems with TAPE does not mean that the same thing is happening with GMA.
He said the hosts’ departure does not mean that they are abandoning the network. For example, Vic and Jose have a sitcom called “Open 24/7” with actress and former Dabarkads host Maja Salvador. Also, Jose is still with “Battle of the Judges.”
GMA is open to the other aforementioned hosts if they want to work with them. “If we only have say control, we only have a say in what happens, of course we will not let them go. That’s their term. We will stop them. We will try to do everything so that they stay with us but in reality GMA hands off because it was an internal issue between TVJ and TAPE, Inc.,” the GMA executive said in the interview.
“So, we really don’t know about those issues. We only learned about the issues when they appeared on social media, in the newspaper or in interviews so it wasn’t right for us to interfere.”
From the beginning, GMA was not on either side, although TAPE, Inc. has an existing contract with them because of the “blocktime agreement.”
“From the start, GMA was not on the side of this. Like I said, it was their internal issues, it was a corporate issue.”
Annette also explained the block time agreement between TAPE and GMA regarding the airing of Eat Bulaga. Their contract will expire in 2024.
“We have to honor the contract as long as there is no breach of its provisions. Because you know, the contract is different, it has legal consequences,” she added.
