JOHN Amores has surrendered to police early Thursday morning and is facing the charge of attempted murder after shooting an individual in Lumban, Laguna.

Multiple reports by GMA News and ABS-CBN News said Amores and his younger brother are already in police custody, deciding to surrender for security reasons after receiving threats.

GMA News’ Bea Pinlac reported that Amores has thrown away the gun that he used in the shooting. Inquest proceedings will also begin on Thursday.

Amores is facing imprisonment of six to 12 years after he shot a certain Lee Cacalda in broad daylight at the National Road, Barangay Maytalang Uno in Lumban, Laguna, stemming from a heated argument during a basketball game in nearby Barangay Salac. GMA News learned that there was a bet of P4,000 involved during the match.

No casualties were reported from the incident that was caught on CCTV.

It was learned that Amores’ brother was the driver of the motorcycle he rode to follow Cacalda before the shooting.

Amores declined to comment to GMA News when interviewed at the jail cell in Lumban, Laguna.
