MANILA (UPDATED) — The team of Vice Ganda, Karylle and Ryan Bang on Monday kicked off the much-awaited Magpasikat Week of “It’s Showtime,” which is celebrating its 15th anniversary.

Vice Ganda, Bang and Karylle gave a heartwarming and inspiring performance, which reminds everyone about hope.

Karylle opened their team’s performance with her original composition which she dedicated to her father, who recently passed away.

“Maraming emosyon talaga, and I think this is our most personal [performance],” said Karylle. “Mahirap siya gawin, kasi bubuhos ‘yung emosyon mo, ‘di ba? But he was such a big part of Showtime, and my life, of course.

Bang did an interpretative performance to the tune of “Beautiful,” while Vice did an interpretative dance to the tune of Katy Perry’s “Rise.”

“Ang sarap sa pakiramdam na ‘yung personal experience ko na nangyari sa akin, shinare ko sa madlang people,” said Bang, who reflected on his recent engagement as well as his reunion with is parents.

The team then surprised the viewers with Vice’s performance  of “Liham” with members of P-pop kings SB19.

Also joining their team as guests were Olympic medalist Carlos Yulo, described by Vice as “beacon of hope,” former child star Awra Briguela, and other dance artists.

“Sobrang saya po na maimbitahan po as a guest and mabigyang parangal po,” the gymnast said.

It also featured stories of ordinary people who shared their hopes.

“15th year is a milestone. … Sa panahong ito ano pa ba ang dapat nating ibinibigay?  Bukod sa we want to make madlang people happy, basic na sa atin ‘yon. Para sa puntong ito ang tina-try na nating ibigay is something that has eternal value, ‘yung mas may kabuluhan na siya, dahil sa gulo ng paligid. … So ano ba ang kailangan natin? ‘Yung hope ang kailangan natin araw-araw,” Vice explained.

The judges for this year’s Magpasikat are filmmaker Rory Quintos, Donny Pangilinan, Gabi Garcia, Alice Dixson, and former ABS-CBN president Freddie Garcia.

“I want you to know that choosing the right theme for your performance is very difficult to mount and portray, and what you want to say about hope and faith,” said Garcia. “I think your performance is exceptional.”
