Heart Evangelista opens up about past miscarriages: ‘It took time for me to recover’

Heart Evangelista opened up about the heartbreak she experienced from her past miscarriages.

After losing her twins in 2018 due to miscarriages, Heart revealed that she did not entertain the idea of getting pregnant for a while because of the pain caused by the experience. “It took time for me to recover,” she shared in an episode of her reality series, Heart World.

When she finally wanted to have a baby again, Heart found out that she could not get pregnant anymore. “I did the test. Nalaman ko there’s nothing wrong with me and in fairness nothing wrong kay Chiz (Escudero)… But basically my body, even if I was like in my 30s parang ‘yung production ng eggs ko para na akong nasa late 40s so konti na lang ‘yung natitirang eggs sa ‘kin. So naka-harvest kami ng 4 eggs and only two were good,” she relayed.

The actress and style icon revealed that she then decided to turn to surrogacy to try having a baby. However, the surrogate had a miscarriage during the first try.

“[I] got a surrogate mother and she was pregnant, and she was carrying my baby girl and then after not a very long time, nawala ‘yung baby girl,” she recalled.

Heart tried again with her last egg, but it also did not work out. “Masakit kasi iniisip ko, boy and girl [twins] last ko girl na ‘yun and then finally just a few months ago, we decided to take a chance to try the boy, my last remaining embryo and nabuo siya, mayroon na siyang heartbeat but after one week, ayun di rin siya nag-work,” she recounted.

Heart remarked that the last miscarriage was very difficult for her knowing that it was from her last harvested egg. “That one is very hard for me because parang for me that’s my last try and ‘yung hinarvest ang eggs ko nung mga time na ‘yun parang long ago na so konti na lang natitira sa akin nung time na ‘yun ano pa kaya ngayon,” she said.

Amid the unfortunate events, Heart took comfort in the fact that she has become a mother through the kids of her husband, Chiz.

“That’s why sinasabi ko na blessing ‘yung children sa akin kasi biruin mo ito pala ‘yung mangyayari sa akin pero alam na ni Lord kaya binigyan Niya ako ng dalawa (Quino and Chesi) na alam kong mayroon akong, hindi ko sinasabe na aalagaan nila ako, or gusto kong alagaan nila ako… Gusto ko lang mayroon akong makakakwentuhan ‘pag matanda na ako, ma-share ko lang ‘yung good experiences ko, ‘yung mga hardships ko, ‘yung mag lessons ko, para ‘di masasayang. That’s all I kinda wanted,” she highlighted.
