Claudine Barretto Learned From Her Mom, ‘Once You’ve Become A Mother, Your Life Is Not Yours Anymore’

In a tell-all interview with Boy Abunda, the mom of four puts it firmly, “I think I already gave my promise to my ex-husband, and that’s enough. I have my children, I have four. I have two sets, the big ones and the little ones.

Claudine has four children: Sabina, 18; Santino 15; Quia, 7; and Noah, 4.

She maintained, “That alone takes so much of my time, my energy, my strength, so I will focus on that.”

Lessons from her parents

The youngest of seven children, Claudine said she’s become stronger and more resilient because of her mom Inday Barretto. “It amazes me how much strength she has. I’ve realized that her life was never easy. Kakatapos lang ng problema nung isa, yung isa may problema na naman.”

 

 

She added, “And what I’ve learned from my mom, once you’ve become a mother, once you bear children, your life is not yours anymore. Your life becomes your children’s lives. It’s something you have to devote your life to, your time to.

“And that everything we do in our lifetime, the happiness and the life that our children are gonna be facing someday in the future will all depend on the actions and the behaviors that we do now, at present.”

Nevertheless, Claudine also shared how her late father Miguel Barretto shaped her to become who she is today.

A proud daddy’s girl, she said, “I am who I am because of my dad. My greatest fear was losing my dad.”

Emotional, she continued, “Death never gets easier. Actually, it gets harder. It stays there.” His dad passed away in 2019.

 

 

Claudine also cleared that she’s on good terms with her sisters Gretchen and Marjorie Barretto.

“You know why I’m okay now, after all I’ve been through was because of my sister Gretchen. She never left my side,” she said.

 

 

“Mentally, physically, emotionally because they believed me. They never let go.”

Proud mama

All her hard work paid off when after the interview, three of her kids joined her in the set, and Claudine beamed, “Congratulations to my scholar. I’m a proud mom today,” referring to Sabina who passed the  entrance examinations at the University of the Philippines, and all the other five she took, according to a report by PEP.ph.

Claudine earlier announced the news on her Instagram, saying, “Thank you so much anak. You truly are God’s blessing to me.”

 

 

Claudine also confessed that there’s one thing in her bucket list that she hopes to come true: to star in a movie with fellow actress mom of three Judy Ann Santos, “I would be forever grateful. Queens support queens,” she said.
