Thomas Tuchel has a very clear rule which will be implemented when he takes the reins with the England national team.

Thomas Tuchel’s bizarre two non-negotiable rules has been revealed after he was appointed England manager.

News emerged on Tuesday that Tuchel had agreed to take the Three Lions job and replace Gareth Southgate on a permanent basis.

And on Wednesday morning, following an extensive search for a new manager, Tuchel’s appointment was confirmed by the FA.

He actually signed his contract on Tuesday 8 October but the announcement was kept under wraps in order to not overshadow Lee Carsley’s latest training camp as interim boss.

Tuchel will take the reins on 1 January 2025, allowing Carsley to complete his six-game run with games against Greece and Finland before returning to the Under 21’s.

The 51-year-old becomes the third foreign manager to manage England and has his own ideas and a unique way of doing things.

In 2021, after he was appointed as Chelsea boss, The Guardian reported on some interesting quirks that Tuchel wanted his players to adhere to.

He advocates a ban on players being referred to by their surnames, instead preferring first names to be used.

Moreover, he is big on eye contact and insists players look into each other’s eyes when they greet one another and say “good morning”.

In addition, a separate report from Football.London claims Tuchel also wanted each of his players to create a special bond with him for when the going gets tough.

He even preached as much during his first six months in charge at Stamford Bridge.

Tuchel is believed to have signed an 18-month contract and will earn between £4.5 million and £5 million.

“I am very proud to have been given the honour of leading the England team,” he said in a statement on his new job.

“I have long felt a personal connection to the game in this country, and it has given me some incredible moments already. To have the chance to represent England is a huge privilege, and the opportunity to work with this special and talented group of players is very exciting.

“Working closely with Anthony as my assistant coach, we will do everything we can to make England successful and the supporters proud. I want to thank the FA, in particular Mark and John, for their trust and I am looking forward to starting our journey together.”
