In a recent appearance on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, actor Xian Lim confirmed that he still remains friends with his ex-girlfriend, Kim Chiu, even after the couple ended their 12-year relationship in December 2023.

Despite the seemingly amicable nature of their split, Xian revealed that he and Kim have not spoken since their separation.

“To be completely honest, ever since we went our separate ways, hindi pa po kami nakakapag-usap. But we of course, when that night happened, maayos ‘yung pag-uusap namin. Of course, mayroong iyakan but there was that assurance na we went through 12 years of our existence, it has that respect,” he explained.

Xian also acknowledged the challenges and controversies that came with their high-profile breakup. “Ang dami kasing kwento, especially ‘yun nga ang mahirap sa isang public relationship. And they’ve been there since day one, nung panliligaw pa lang all the way to more than a decade… People come up with all these made-up lies, kung ano man. But, we released our statement na we both decided to part ways,” he stated.

Without diving into the specifics, Xian clarified that he was not the one who initiated the breakup. “To be completely honest I wasn’t the one engaged in the separation, ‘yun lang po siya, it’s that simple,” he said, affirming that he did not initiate the split. “Yeah, I wasn’t the one who initiated the breakup,” he added.

Addressing the mixed reactions from their fans who have been invested in their relationship for over a decade, Xian expressed understanding and empathy.

“I understand why the supporters are angry, I understand why they feel betrayed. Pero masakit rin ‘yun para sa amin. They’re watching us from a distance. Eto kaming dalawa, you know, we have our talks,” he said.

Xian stressed the importance of respecting their privacy. “Nag-usap kami privately. Hindi na kailangan himayin kung sino ang nag-kulang. I think the length speaks for itself, and ‘yung pambabatikos sa akin ng karamihan, I think they should look at it from us.”

Reflecting on the aftermath of their breakup, Xian expressed sadness over the false allegations and reports that have surfaced: “It’s just sad na maraming intrigang lumalabas especially against me. It’s just a very delicate thing and I do understand why people are upset, but we are okay.”

Kim, who had remained mostly silent since their breakup, addressed the situation last Friday, June 7. “It ended, the journey was beautiful. Ayaw ko nang maging masama ‘yung loob ko. Kasi paulit-ulit na lang. Let’s give it a rest and let’s leave respect to each other,” she stated.
