Many netizens were heartbroken after seeing a visibly emotional Xian Lim on Instagram last Monday, August 24, as he shared the sad news that his maternal grandmother, Leonida Malatag Cruz, 87, has breast cancer.

In a three-minute long video he uploaded on Instagram, the TV and movie actor couldn’t help but cry as he talked about the health condition of his lola, who will be required to undergo mastectomy.

“We are bringing my lola to the hospital, I think the procedure is called mastectomy or something, where they have to remove I guess her left or right breast because they found cancer.”

“So, my grandma has cancer right now.”

According to mayoclinic.org, mastectomy is a surgery to remove all breast tissue from a breast as a way to treat or prevent breast cancer.

For those with early-stage breast cancer, a mastectomy may be one treatment option.

Although, Xian is choked up with emotions, he wanted to stress the importance to his followers of spending time with our loved ones.

He said, “I guess it’s more for people to take a moment and enjoy the moments you have with family and friends. So, basically that’s it.

“If you have a moment right now just go to your mom, dad, grandpa, your lola and just say I love you to them,

“Enjoy them while they are still around. She’s still around, malakas pa naman siya.

“It’s just that may mga uncertainties in life, there are moments na hindi talaga mako-control, so don’t take time for granted,”

Xian Lim’s video has so far generated over 200, 000 views as of writing.
