MANILA — Vice Ganda, Anne Curtis, and Angel Locsin were among the ABS-CBN artists who spoke up Monday as the Senate launched its hearing on issues surrounding their home network’s broadcast franchise.

Curtis, a Kapamilya for over 16 years now, said on Twitter that she felt “many concerns and questions were finally answered by our bosses and lawyers,” adding that she is “praying all works out.”

The Senate hearing tackled several aspects of ABS-CBN’s compliance to its broadcast provisions, with numerous government agencies clearing the network of violations in terms of taxes, foreign involvement, pay-per-view offerings, and labor practices, among others.

It also touched on ABS-CBN’s airing of political ads during the 2016 elections, in light of President Rodrigo Duterte’s oft-repeated grievance against the network.

Responding to questions from lawmakers were several executives of ABS-CBN, including president and CEO Carlo Katigbak, whose calm demeanor and clear answers earned praise on social media, making him a trending topic on Twitter.

In their respective posts, Vice Ganda and Locsin mentioned Katigbak. The comedy supertar reminded his fans, in jest, that Kagibak is married, in reference to tweet expressing admiration for the ABS-CBN boss; while Locsin attested to his humility even behind cameras.

Several other stars associated with ABS-CBN also aired their support for the network on Monday, coinciding with the Senate hearing.
